Starbury Comeback

Make way Air Jordans-- the Starbury sneaker is back. Retired NBA player, Stephon Marbury has decided to relaunch his $15 sneakerline, making an announcement via Instagram last week. Starbury kicks came to the sneaker scene in ‘06, when Marbury wanted to provide an affordable shoe for fans as an alternative to the popular $100 dollar + Jordans. With the help of Steve & Barry’s, Marbury’s line sold well and fellow teammates even supported the brand by wearing them to their games. Although the current Beijing Ducks star could be viewed as the Robin Hood of sneaker production, critics are taking jabs at Starbury sneaks simply because of the price. The comments don’t seem to faze Marbury though; taking the criticism in stride, he tweeted in reply to a critic, “Homeboy you're paying $200 for Jordan's and they make them for 5 dollars. The shoes are made in China in the same places. Stay calm we coming!” The shoe may be hated or praised, but either way we’re excited to see what Stephon Marbury has in store.
