Well fellow music heads, another bound to be disappointing, Grammy Awards show is upon us. On February 16th, we’ll see some artists who will receive the credit they deserve, being given the highest known honor of music, and other talented musicians robbed of recognition in-light of what’s popular on the radio. There are many new face beginning to earn their stripes, like Alabama Shakes with 4 nominations or The Weeknd receiving a whopping 7 Grammy nominations, tying that of Taylor Swift. But America’s sweetheart and the soulful man with the crazy hair aren’t leading the pack this year… because the king of the West Coast is coming for his crown. Like Uma Thurman going after Bill in the Kill Bill movies, Compton-born Rapper Kendrick Lamar is looking to stock up his bathroom full of those coveted golden record players, with the masterpiece that is his second studio album, “To Pimp a Butterfly” as his weapon of choice. Lamar currently has 11 Grammy nods, the most of any artist in the running this year. Some of the categories he’s in include: Song of the Year, Best Duo Performance (with Ms. Swift herself), Best Rap Album, Best Dance Record (with Flying Lotus), and of course, the coveted Album of the Year award, something long-deserved since losing in 2013 to that basic Macklemore project…. Fingers crossed for you, Kendrick!!
