Puma Makes a Power Move with McQ Collaboration

With all the sneaker-associated spotlight seeming to shine bright on Nike’s world-renowned Air Jordan branch and Adidas Yeezy hype machine, it was time for Puma to put their asses into high gear and fast. If you haven’t heard by now, the German shoe line has teamed up with pop star Rihanna to release the Puma Fenty’s (named after Rihanna’s last name), jumping on the trend of blurring the lines between pop star and shoe designer. However, to make a much more original statement, Puma recently made another major power move by teaming up with McQ, a secondary label created by the late, great designer, Alexander McQueen. To celebrate the collection, Puma and McQ dropped a rather trippy video, showing off the very forward thinking collection. The collaboration itself has a very “Blade Runner meets Met Gala, meets Indie electronic music” vibe, and creates a distinct look that feels familiar but definitely not what you’d expect to see day by day in the United States. We dig the big 180 from Puma, and it’s definitely making us excited for what collaborations are to come.
