Marvel Creator Offers to Help Lifelong Rival

Sep 09, 2016

Whether you’re a huge comic book fan or not, if you’ve seen any Marvel movie in the past 12 years, you’ve seen the face of author and actor, Stan Lee. Not only is he the recurring, aviator-wearing extra you’ve seen in every Marvel superhero movie, but he’s the very founder of the Marvel comic publishing company, itself. The only comic brand to match the size and reputation of Marvel has been DC Comics; a business rivalry that’s well over 7 decades old. However, after several successful Marvel crossover films and a number of DC duds, that rivalry has seemed to dissolve with Marvel coming out as the victor. So, seeing how immensely well Lee’s stories have done at the box office, it seems the legendary comic book author wants to extend a hand of good faith to his DC colleagues.

In a recent interview, Lee suggested that maybe some cameos of himself will help out his competition in the sales department, stating, “I want to do more cameos also, I've even let people know it doesn't have to be a Marvel movie, I don't know why DC hasn't called me. They could use me!”  Nothing wrong with a little friendly roasting, but who knows, maybe Lee is on to something. Across 28 different cameos and boasting a whopping 98 movie credits, we’ve seen Stan play every small time role under the sun. He’s been a mail man (Fantastic 4), a bartender (Ant-Man), a cop (Hulk), an army vet (The Avengers), and even a strip club DJ (Deadpool); and we’re sure there’s more to come from the 93-year-old New Yorker. If you want to check out all the cameos he’s done, watch the YouTube compilation by Homer Thompson below!
