Nike Makes Patriotism Look Real Fly

It may be the Canadian-born Drake who made the phrase popular, but Summer ’16 is looking to be an extra ‘Merican summer. Not only is Independence right around the corner (bringing us a much appreciated three-day weekend), but we also have the Summer Olympics in Brazil coming up in August. Or in other words, the one time of year we care about various Track & Field events like the very existence of our country depends on us taking home the gold. So in honor of athleticism and patriotism, everyone’s favorite athletic shoe company, Nike, has decided to commemorate the season with some rather patriotic Flyknits on a canvas of, arguably, their most famous shoe.

The “USA” edition of the Nike Air Force 1’s are a classic with a contemporary twist. The USA editions bring a red, white, and blue Flyknit design to a legendary name that makes it perfect for that July 4th Cookout/Party. There’s only one problem. These gorgeous shoes won’t be out in time for the big day on Sunday, slated for a release date of July 18th. Honestly, kind of a dropped ball here on Nike’s part, but Sneakerheads can still rep their U.S. pride for those Olympic game watch parties. The shoes are beautifully done, featuring red and navy blue knitting, blue leather tabs, a holographic Nike swoosh, all sitting on top of white soles with clear gum accents. These Air Force 1’s even bring beauty on the inside with some words of inspiration in the right shoe, and the phrase “E pluribus unum”, from the official seal of the United States, in the left shoe. Make sure to stalk nike.com and the SNKRS app for iPhone and Android so you can pick up these special edition Air Forces on day 1!
