The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 Gets a Release Date

After what feels like an eternity of waiting for an update since Nike’s teaser in March, we finally have a release date for the self-lacing shoe. Mark your calendars for November 28th as the Nike HyperAdapt will be available on Cyber Monday to purchase in select U.S. stores. But note that Nike has not given any information on how to schedule appointments to view the sneakers (yes, you’ll need an appointment).

This sneaker tech has been in the works for almost 30 years. The HyperAdapt 1.0 uses a lace engine technology that is attached to the fit system. When the user steps into the shoe, the heel sensor sends signals to the lace engine to make the fit system compress around the foot. The sneaker also has a plus and minus button on the side if you want to make the sneaker tighter or looser. Worried about battery life? Fear not, for the sneaker’s battery will outlast your cellphone by a long shot of 2 weeks. Your sneakers will blink blue when they’re charged, yellow when they’re running low, and red when they are about to die. In order to charge your sneakers, you simply need to magnetically attach each charger to the sole of your shoe and wait 3 hours for a full charge.

Unfortunately, the price for these “Back to the Future” shoes still hasn’t been released, but according to spokesman Matthew Kneller, it should be announced in a few weeks. Until then, start saving your dollars, we’re less than 10 weeks away until launch date!
